Solomon Systech’s PMOLED TDDI IC Wins @2018 “Hong Kong Awards for Industries” and “IET Innovation Awards”
Hong Kong, 12 December 2018 – Solomon Systech Limited (“Solomon Systech”) is pleased to announce that its newly launched PMOLED (Passive matrix OLED) Touch and Display Driver Integration (TDDI) IC, SSD7317, which is the first of its kind globally, has won the Technological Achievement Award at this year’s Hong Kong Awards for Industries (HKAI). This innovative product has also been highly commended at the international IET Innovation Awards. Apart from these two key technology awards, Solomon Systech’s partner panel manufacturer was granted the “Outstanding Product Award – Materials and Components Category” of the Gold Panel Awards 2018 in Taiwan with the PMOLED TDDI IC SSD7317 module in August this year.
Supported by the HKSAR Government, the HKAI aims to recognize the outstanding performance and achievements of Hong Kong enterprises in enhancing their competitiveness in various aspects. The judging criteria of the “Technological Achievement” award category includes technology merits and intellectual property, impact on the industry, market recognition of the technology, as well as the technology culture of the participating companies.
The IET Innovation Awards, organized by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), are internationally competitive awards which had attracted over 350 entries from around the world this year.
The award-winning PMOLED TDDI IC SSD7317 integrates display and touch microelectronics into a single chip for use on PMOLED panels, targeting applications including wearables, smart home appliances and smart healthcare devices. It revolutionizes the PMOLED technology by transforming traditional PMOLED display panels into “touch + display” panels with no modifications needed on the existing display module structure. With 7 patents filed globally, this breakthrough product has not only reduced the total module costs and thickness substantially, enabled lighter and thinner form factor design, but it has also greatly enhanced the display quality and touch performance, and enabled higher final product assembly yield rate and shorter development cycle.
The SSD7317 is expected to further enhance the user experience of these smart devices which have strong growth potential, and also extend the applications of PMOLED technology in the IoT era.
Raymond Wang, Corporate Vice President and Head of Advanced Display Business Unit, Solomon Systech Limited, said, “It’s an honor and privilege to receive these key technology awards. The recognition underscores the hard work, innovative spirit and dedication of our staff. As a pioneer and a market leader of PMOLED display driver ICs, we are glad to have launched this “world’s first” PMOLED TDDI IC which we believe has set an important milestone in the PMOLED industry worldwide. We shall continue to innovate and strive to stay at the forefront of technology.”
