Solomon Systech’s Innovation Microdisplay Controller IC & Kopin’s CyberDisplay® Drives the Innovative Digital iVision™ Technology Wins Grand Award and Gold Award for Outstanding Innovation and Technology Product

(Hong Kong – 14 October 2005) – Enabled by Solomon Systech (International) Limited (“Solomon Systech” or the “Group”, SEHK: 2878) and Kopin® Corporation (“Kopin”, NASDAQ: KOPN), the Digital iVision™ technology has won the Grand Award and Gold Award in the 2005 Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association (HKEIA) Award for Outstanding Innovation and Technology Products. Digital iVision™ is the latest innovative technology that allows mobile video applications in new eyewear. Its two key components, Solomon Systech’s Microdisplay Controller IC and Kopin’s CyberDisplay® empower the exciting future mobile video applications and spearhead next-generation “Big Pictures on the Go”.

This is the second consecutive year that innovative breakthrough achieved by Solomon Systech and its partner is honored by the awards.

The main objectives of the HKEIA Award for Outstanding Innovation and Technology Products are to recognize and reward companies which are able to produce new products with excellent design, technology or feature. The winners were selected by an independent judging panel comprising academia, representatives of public bodies and different commercial fields.

Rising resolution and increasingly vibrant colors are among the growing requirements for portable displays. Digital iVision™ technology incorporates extraordinary large virtual images, high resolutions, and low battery consumption in an ultra compact and lightweight Binocular Display Module (“BDM”). It allows big pictures on the go for existing digital mobile applications, such as mobile phones, smart phones, DVD players, Portable Media Players (PMP), portable PC and electronic games. By freeing video eyewear manufacturers from the technical complexity of the display system, this latest technology will substantially shorten the time to market and lower the cost of the video eyewear.

Mr. Humphrey Leung, Solomon Systech’s Managing Director, welcomed the commendation, “With Solomon Systech’s proprietary IC technology and know-how, we are among the first in the world to combine high-definition and portability in affordable video eyewear. We are one of the major global cellular phone display IC suppliers, and will persist on growing our mobile display business. The Group will also continue to invest resources into developing total display IC solutions for the future, promising display technologies that will bring new applications and change lifestyles.”

Solomon Systech’s Microdisplay Controller IC in the Digital iVision™ technology has the following competitive advantages:

  • Prolonged Battery Life – controllable backlight and application-dependent power-save modes prolong battery life to nearly eightfold.

  • Color and Video Quality – built-in programmable gamma correction, 8-bit video D/A converters, and de-interlacing algorithms provides flexible color display configuration, accurate colors, and smooth video viewing experience.

  • In Stereo – built-in circuitry for 3-D stereo display is capable of presenting 3-D images or videos on separate microdisplay panels on a single data stream, enabling designers to create small, lightweight 3-D goggles with ease.
