Solomon Systech Supports Feeding Hong Kong to Combat Food Poverty
(10 December 2024 – Hong Kong) Christmas is a season of giving. As an initiative to help combat food poverty, a team of volunteers from Solomon Systech (International) Limited (“Solomon Systech” or the “Company’’; Stock Code: 2878) has participated in a Christmas parcel packing session organized by Feeding Hong Kong yesterday, where they helped to sort and pack parcels with long-dated shelf-stable staples tailored for families and seniors in need. With a concerted effort, the team has accomplished the challenging target of packing 500 parcels in total, while they also gained understanding of food banking in Hong Kong.
Each day in Hong Kong, 3,302 tonnes of food are being disposed. Meanwhile, 1 in 4 people in Hong Kong lives in poverty, when 45% of seniors and 25% of children struggle to meet their basic nutritional needs.
Feeding Hong Kong is a Hong Kong registered charity established in 2011. Their mission is to fight hunger and reduce the amount of quality food being sent to landfills in Hong Kong. They do this by collecting surplus stock from food companies. They sort and store it, then redistribute it to charities who feed those in need. Feeding Hong Kong is the sole accredited member of the Global Food Banking Network (GFN) in Hong Kong.
