Capacitive Touch Panel Controller SSD2531

Enabling Multi-touch Applications with Highest Integration

(Hong Kong – 19 May, 2010) Solomon Systech today announced a new member SSD2531 to its Capacitive Touch Panel Controller Family. The new SSD2531 is an all-in-one Capacitive Touch Panel Controller that integrated power circuits, driving and sensing circuits into a single chip.  Succeed to the SSD2521 introduced a year earlier, the SSD2531 provides four additional sensing button pins allowing more flexible product designs such as Android-based devices. It also provides stronger noise immunity for both AC-VCOM and DC-VCOM TFT displays.  SSD2531 supports true multi-touch function for display panel up to 7″ WVGA resolution and has a DSP-based architecture that supports up to four fingers simultaneous detection. With a highly compact and competitive design, SSD2531 enables touch panel in portable devices such as mobile phones, personal navigation devices, digital still cameras and more.

The capacitive touch panel controller family SSD2521/31from Solomon Systech provides touch interface solutions to fulfill the latest market needs.  These controllers integrate all the necessary components and functions such as power circuits, panel driving and sensing circuits, high resolution ADC, fast response digital signal processor (DSP) and finger tracking unit into single chips.  To support high accuracy and fast touch detection, the DSP adopts several arithmetic algorithms for finger extraction and tracking.  It tracks maximum four fingers simultaneously and reports the absolute coordinate of each finger.  In addition, it can detect individual touch incidents and events based on the tracked finger coordinates.  SSD2521/31 support true multi-touch and can drive up to 7” WVGA capacitive touch panel.  They are easy-to-use touch panel controllers with excellent cost performance.

SSD2531 is capable to detect maximum 4 fingers movement and enables user to operate the system more than a click.  With the Multi-Touch feature, many more fascinating functions can be created.
