DISPLAY PANEL IC

New Display

Microdisplay Controller

Higher resolution and more vibrant colors are definitely growing requirements for portable displays. Such requirements even demand more information display and higher-quality images on the same size screen.

Microdisplays allow much smaller display pixel size than active matrix TFT LCD panels and produce images with a much higher resolution, without compromising the end application's physical size. A VGA (640RGBx480) microdisplay panel is typically within 1/2 inch diagonal. Microdisplays consume far less battery power than competing technologies and when mounted with an appropriate optic, they provide a magnified virtual image size as large and as clear as much bigger displays.

Solomon Systech proudly offers Display System Solution of two Microdisplay Controllers - SSD1502 and SSD1503 - that integrate all necessary devices on-chip, including programmable timing controller, scaler, deinterlacing,

color space conversion, video DAC, etc. These ICs provide a seamless interface for video sources to Kopin VGA microdisplay, and at the same time simplify system structure and hardware design. Together with Kopin's microdisplay technology and Solomon Systech's controller ICs, the system, when applied in eyewear applications, will substantially enhance the viewing experience for mobile digital devices, such as cellular phones, Portable Media Players (PMP), portable DVD players and game consoles.
