PolyU and its forerunners for their illustrious professional
accomplishments and significant contributions to the
community. There are five alumni honoured the award this
year. The seven-member Panel of Judges, made up of
government officials and renowned community leaders, is
chaired by Dr. Henry Tang Ying-yen.
Prof.
Y.S. Lee, being the nominator, commented that Mr. Leung had
made great contributions to the Hong Kong electronics
industry. "Through the setting up of a company Mr.
Leung demonstrates that Hong Kong is a suitable place for
the development of high-tech and high value-added industry.
He is a role model for PolyU graduates," said Prof. Y.S.
Lee.
Being
the award winner, Mr. Humphrey Leung made his remark at the
ceremony. "First of all, I have to thank Professor YS
Lee, Professor Joshua Wong and Mr. CD Tam. Not only because
they are my nominator and my referees for this event. All
three of them are also my mentors and my role models in
helping me to build up my career in the industry," said
Mr. Leung. "I feel extremely honored to be a graduate
of PolyU for it has been one of the best HK technical
colleges in providing electronic engineering studies. The
technical knowledge that I learned from PolyU, together with
the training of analytical strength, persistent will-power
and working with people provides me a very solid foundation
for my present work to perform a CEO of a high-tech IC
company that a lot of people still think this industry is
something impossible for the Hong Kong people to do."
Mr. Leung continued, "PolyU has trained and helped a
lot us and the Hong Kong society to create a lot of success
that people think is impossible."
