Solomon Systech today announced two new members SSD2085
WVGA TFT Driver and SSD1268 QVGA TFT Driver to its LCD
Driver Controller family. The two driver ICs targets
smart mobile device applications with different display
resolution. They support a-si TFT LCD panel with
integrated power circuits, timing controller and
source/gate drivers.
The new single chip SSD2085
TFT LCD driver is to capture the smart phone market with
high resolution display. It supports a-si TFT LCD with
480RGBx864 WVGA resolutions. Most of the WVGA solutions
in the market today come from AMOLED and LTPS
technology, but are limited by production capacity and
relatively high cost. SSD2085 adopts to the mature
technology of a-si gateless TFT LCD so that the supply
is guaranteed and cost is effective. Besides, it
supports DC-VCOM to enhance the display performance,
MDDI/MIPI interface to increase data transfer rate and
Smart RAM Management (a proprietary technology from
Solomon Systech) to achieve effective cost and power
consumption reduction.
Another single chip SSD1268
QVGA TFT driver, succeed to SSD1266 introduced a year
earlier, provides improvement on integrated capacitors
function and reduces external capacitor required from 9
pieces to 4 pieces only. It carries unique features such
as separated RGB gamma correction to optimize display
and dynamic backlight control to reduce power
consumption. SSD1268 supports 240RGBx320 new 14µm 2-line
stagger platform in a-si TFT panel, with over five panel
sources from Korea, Taiwan and China to ensure panel
supply and capture the 2011 market growth.
